group Analysis of three magazine front covers

This magazine appeals to the women's audience because its all about being slim and staying slim. The magazines objective is to make the women know how to make themselves look and feel better. The cover line on the left hand side saying ' SLIMMER BY NEXT WEEK ' , this is very appealing to women because it will make them think they can look like kim in a week . The magazine is very misleading as everyone knows you can not become fit and slim in one week.However by featuring kim kardashian on the front cover and her saying ' I'LL NEVER BE ONE OF THOSE SKINNY GIRLS' , this suggests the magazine and Kim are being represented in a positive way. Its trying to show you that even a celebrity doesn't want to fit in with the stereo type of women are skinny . Kims eye are also engaging the audience as she is over the maskhead.The yellow cover lines are advice on relationships and about personal stories plus they give facts and more advice on the women's body . Where as the white cover line is the line which is really trying to sell the magazine and being in white makes it stand out from all the other cover lines so the audience eye is attracted straight away to it.

Nuts magazine is for the male generation it is called a 'lad's mag'.This magazine you can see straight away it appeals to men . Due to the image of a young skinny blonde girl ( basic stereo type)on the front bending over in a sexual way.The magazines object is to make the men get interested by the main images and how revealing they are on the front cover to buy the magazine. Everyone of the models on the front cover have the same body figure . Plus they try an come across in a innocent way to make the men feel they can dominate them. The language is there in engage the reader . To make them feel the magazine is especially for them.

First Album Cover


Front Cover 
My Front cover will contain high key lighting throughout the cover however in the top left hand corner , it will be extremely high key lighting creating the affect that its representing the sun. I chosen to use high key lighting to create the theme of happiness and love also romance.The main image image will contain a close up of a womens face , she  will have a flower headband round her head which will have pink flowers on it to show romance , she will be looking down with netting round her  ear her neck , she will be looking down to give off her innocence and shy feeling , she will be smiling so it creates the classy but cheeky affect.

For my CD back cover I need to include a long shot of a Woman with white netting round her. She will be sitting down with her legs crossed to the side , both her arms will be touching at the bottom grabbing the netting , which will be all around her , she will be looking down to the right giving off the innocent and classy theme.The lighting will be high key to represent love , happiness  I will have my font in Lucida Calligraphy , I have chosen this font because i feel it will relate to my theme well as it links to the image too.The background will be all white so nothing will detract the attention off the artist.


 Second Album Cover

Front Cover

The main image for my front cover will be a close up of a women looking down to the left with red lipstick on and she will be wearing a black bowlers hat black . There will be high key lighting over half the bottom of her face and then the top half of her face will be in low key lighting which will create the affects of shadows.The main focus will be on the red lipstick as the low key lighting will stop just before her lips . I chosen to use red lipstick as I feel it will create mystery for what the albums about as it can link to many things.

Back Cover 

My back cover main image will be standing horizontal but her face will be facing the camera , she will have a shadow on half of her body and face she will be wearing the same bowlers hat and red lipstick , she will not be smiling just looking deepl into the camera.

Front cover , this is my first draft for my album cover i chosen to use the image of Selena Gomez as I feel she gives off the upper-class and classy feeling , also she is very pretty so people get attracted to the cover . Also I chosen this image because her outfit I feel links to the background pattern so the whole cover links together.I decided to use low key lighting for the background so then nothing overwhelms and takes the attraction off my artist also It gives of a sexual for also classy feeling. I used high key lighting on Selena to make her stand out and so you can see her in more detail and it makes her the main focus of the cover. As well as this I decided to chose a mid shot of Selena Gomez so all the focus is on her face nothing else.

 Back cover - This is my back cover for my album I don't feel this a good background because the image and font do not link together . However I chosen to use another mid shot of Selena Gomez so the focus is still all on her body language and her face.The background lighting is high key but plain so it stands out but not too much.I chosen the colour red for the font to create the feeling for love / danger.

This is my second daft front cover for my album , I decided to chose a low key lighting for the background to create a sassy / upper class affect and a romantic feeling. However I chosen to have high key lighting for my artist to make them stand out and be the main focus , also  so her features are more visible .

Course Work Cd Covers

  The  theme for Taylor's album is red and that is shown in the red lipstick which taylor is wearing.The colour red can link to danger ,death or in fact romance . Romance links to most of her songs as a lot of them are about new romance and heart breaks.They use low key lightening on half of Taylors faces which leads to mystery and curiosity . However even with the low key lightening you can still identify in which who the album belongs to. They use very natural lightening on the other half to make the red stand out more . Also dept of field is how they have made the background blurry and the image and the title stand out . Another interesting aspect is there is no sexual presents where as many album covers use.So then it makes it feel and come across more classy and more elegant making it feel its for the upper class . Another thing in which i find interesting about the album is how its very simple however very effective they have links things together very well.



The cover for Carly Rae Jepsen 'Take A Picture' makes Carly come across in a more sexual way how her eye contact is all on the audience also how she has her hand holding on to her hat, which can come across as a more sexual and trashy way. The colour of the font is red which links well to her wearing red glossy lipstick . Also the colour red normally associates  to love, hate , danger and death . Carly is dressed in a more formal way as she has a black hat on also a black formal blazer on which makes her come as cross as a higher - class person but however this does not link to how she is her standing . The background is a plain photo shopped brick wall you can tell this a brick walls are not normally that bright , i feel the brick wall is a big feature in this as because they use such high lightning it really emphases Carly's face and shows the simple details and makes the title stand out a lot more than if the background was all colourful it would make the viewers eye get distracted and the main focus wouldn't be on her.


Rihanna's single album 'Whats my name' features rihanna in  nude with a piece of netting covering her body . It makes rihanna come across in a very innocent and pretty way . This is shown in how rihanna has the pretty detailed head band on also how she is smiling innocently downwards. The font in which is used for her cover is not formal , its simple but affective as it gives off the effect its very classy and red it a predominant colour , also it can stand more , romance , death , love and danger. The way in which Rihanna is posing is in a very demure way . There is a red theme throughout so you get the sense of Romance , i think this is because of the way she is posing and with what she is wearing. They use very high key lighting to make the audience feel happy  .

Shape Magazine is a women for women and it tells them all the ways they can become healthy and look slim.The masthead is covered by the womens head this shows its a popular and well known magazine and has been around for sometime.The main image is of 3 really skinny women , they use skinny women as most women dreams are to be really skinny and feel amazing plus they use three women which all look different and have different freatures so it shows the audience anyone can look like they can.In one coverline it says '15 seconds to gorgeous sexy hair' they say 15 second because most ladies all wish for there hair to be naturally sexy and easy to do so it gets the women intrigued into reading the magazine.There is no barcode on it this tells us the same people buy the magazine so they already know the price.All the women are making eye contact and are smiling , this is so it makes the reader feel more happy when reading and viewing the magazine also its telling the audience that you can be happy with they way they look its not too hard to look like them.The background is white so it can not distract the readers eye from any writing on the page .

The men's health magazine is all about men and how to be healthy and what the men can do to create a great looking body.The Masthead is covered by the mans head , this is because it is a very well known and popular magazine so they don't need to know the magazine masthead . The main image is of a young man with a great body which implies to the reader if your healthy you should look like this , however everyone knows you don't have to have a good body to be healthy , they use a younger man so the readers want to look and be like him making them want to buy the magazine more. The cover line says " SEX SO GOOD" , so this is trying to imply to the reader the better looking your body is the better the sex life will be. Also another cover line ( puff) says " BEACH MUSCLE NOW! " they put this on the front cover as they know everyone wants to look and feel good on the beach so they know readers will want to see how you can do that , plus they say 'YOUR BEST SUMMER EVER ! " this makes the men think once they become healthier and look good there holidays will become amazing and different to all the other also the use the word "your" so the reader feels the magazine is talking to them and including them. . As well as this they put " THE 15 MINUTE PLAN" this is another misleading coverline as people reading it will think they will become like the main image in only 15 minutes when everyone knows it takes a long time to come health and look better . They say 15 minutes because everyone wants it to be quick and easy rather than a long duration of time.They use an orange colour for masthead because it is a bold colour and it makes it stand out. The font all over the magazine is bold and plain this indicates the magazine is for mid or low class so its easy to read . Another reason I feel it is for either the mid or low class is because its only £3 a month. It is not an expensive magazine its very cheap so the younger lads who are students or people without jobs could pay for it .

The X Factor is a very popular program ,  a lot of people watch it for entertainment as it gives you an insight into all different kind of peoples lives .(This links to social integration). They give you an insight into certain peoples live when they interview them and ask them information about themselves. This is entertaining as a lot of the time the x factor shows you the lives of usual people not the normal type of person , they do this so the audience will laugh and find it entertaining. Some people only watch the x factor because as soon as its on its the topic of conversation. The entended audience is everyone as there are so many different kinds of people everyone can relate to someone and it suits all different kinds of age and class. Any class may watch the x factor as it has a revariety of people on the show showing all different classes.

I have chosen BBc news for information because the news is one of the main television programs which gives out the most information , most people can relate to the news because it tells you information from people all around the world ,  making the audience gets an insight into other peoples troubles and lives which relates to social integration. The class which is most likely to watch the news is upper class as they like to know information about the lives around them and the world.The age in which who would wath the bbc news is the older generation and adults.There is not a set gender who watch the news as it is for everyone.

Personal Identity

Personal Identity means when the person identify's themselves as a part of a audience for example hollyoaks.

 

I feel I would identify myself as part of the audience because Georgie shore has young adults in  it so they aren't much olde than myself also i feel i can relate to how they all argue in there house as they are all very opinionated . I like how it has all types of people in there , they aren't all perfect , its entertaining to watch as they don't act there age they act younger . The intended audience is people in the early 20's . The gratification which the program meets is social integration as georgie shore gives you an insight in circumstances of the peoples lives , it shows you their behaviour and live style they live.The class which most people would of thought to be associated to this program is middle class people because upper class people would not find watching people in a house arguing and having no respect for themselves is a good program to watch. I would say there is not a particular gender who watch this program as in the program there are males and feels so each gender can relate to at least one person.

 

Class

This is Kate Middleton  , It shows she is upper class as she is at the red carpet , in a long sparkling , glittering floor length dress  as she went to the gala dinner at the royal society in london , it also show she is upperclass by her manner and the way she looks , she looks very presentable and pretty and not over the top.

Media Studies      Induction Task - Target Audience

The television programme which I feel is relevant to this target audience task is Celebrity Big Brother . This is because It has a variety of different ages of people and characters in it, so then there will be a lot of different ages watching it , also different nationalities will want to watch it as the big brother included a wide range of nationality in the house .

Celebrity Big Brother I feel for the target audience would suit a lot of ages because in the house there isn’t just the same ages there is people who are young adults , mid adulthood and even older so then many people can relate to the program . However I don’t feel the old generation would appeal to watch big brother due to they would not find it relevant to them as there is nothing particularly interesting to watch for them as all you are doing is watching people just like us but who are celebrities sitting around and talking. As well as this many adults who do not want the soaps would not feel the need to watch the program because they would not be able to understand and connect with the people in the house as they wouldn’t know anyone so then they would feel it’s a waste of time watching a program which would have nothing to do with them. However with the younger generation even if they don’t watch the soaps they may still feel the need to watch it because it is the talk of conversation now days for the younger people so you can tell people who you want to win and who you most dislike and they will feel included in the conversation and not feel overwhelmed as they don’t know what there friends are talking about .The scenes which will justify my answer is on every friend there is a live eviction and its shows you all the people who are cheering and chanting outside the house and if you look at all the people outside the house you will relise most of the ages are all young adults you do not see many of the older generation or infact older adults there unless they are family with one of the celebrities in the house and still then its most of the younger family there, This proves that its mainly the younger generation which get involved with big brother .Inclusion I think for the target audience based on all the evidence I think is mainly for the younger generation as they have no concept of ringing in and wasting money on voting for people where as the adults would feel they have worked for there money just to ring in and make a person win big brother just so they can get more money .

The nationality which celebrity big brother provides for is mainly the British people because in the house at the start 13 people go into it and out of the thirteen this year there is only like 3 which aren’t from Britain . This shows that the nationality is mostly for people in Britain . A good intense scène to show this is when everyone first comes into the house mostly all the Britain people get cheered but when the other nationalities come into the house they can get booed this is because a lot of people do not know who they are and will have only heard or seen about them in magazines which now days may not send off the good message to the public so they won’t want to watch a program with people if they don’t know and can’t relate to who them . This is why I think the nationality is most for British people as there is never a lot of nationalities in the house and if there is they never seem to win it so it shows that British people will a lot of the times only won for British members in the house.

There is not a certain target audience in gender in who watches celebrity big brother as there is many different genders in the house , this is a good thing as then everyone in the audience can relate to at least one of the celebrities and can feel included also if there was only one gender in the house then it could become sexist and not as many people would watch it so then the program wouldn’t get as much money. This is why the programs wants a large ranger of genders watching the show and in the show so then everyone can feel accepted as if there is a celebrities in the show which is like them then they can feel more comtable within themselves also it will make them want to vote that person in the house so then the big brother get more benefits out of it .

My Favourite Film

My favourite film is Titanic , this is because it makes me feel so much emotion and its based on a true story. I thought the actors who played the main roles Kate Winslet & Leanardo Dicaprio were suited extremely well to play Rose and Jack.
